Lets Look at How Inflation Has Affected the Reselling World

A year ago I would have picked this item up for my resale business somewhere between $10.00 and $17.00. What is more crazy than the $49.99 price tag on this is that I live a 6 minute drive from an outlet mall and I could pick up a brand new one for less money than this item is priced so someone at the thrift store need to pull their head out of their ass. I also love when they price things donated from the Dollar Store at $3-$5, duh! the price tag is still on the item.

Inflation has also had another effect on the reselling world. More people are feeling the financial stress of day-to-day costs going up, therefor more people are shopping at thrift stores over the past year. Some are doing it because it is fun, but some are also doing it out of necessity. If we apply simple economics of supply and demand to this equation, more demand by customers means that the thrift stores can charge more…and they have been.

Minimum 70% Inflation

A year ago in the same Salvation Army Thrift store from the picture above I was able to pick up any pair of denim jeans for $10.00, it didn’t matter what brand or condition. Today if I were to pick up a pair of AG Adriano Goldschmied jeans or PAIGE jeans, the price will be in the…
