The Road Forward is Not WEXIT (Western Canada Exit)

There Isn’t Even Consensus Across Western Canada

The Federal Election in Canada is now safely a month in the past; it is time for those of us who live in Western Canada to start discussing our situation and for those in Central Canada to Start Listening. As long as I have been alive, we have had this discontent in Western Canada that we are not getting our fair share of the dividends from being a part of Canada. This discontent seems to run most in-depth in my current province of residence, Alberta.

I certainly can remember the Western Canada Concept Political party of the 1980s, a federal political party with a primary platform of founding a new nation out of the four western provinces of Canada. At that time the four Western Provinces had far more in common than we do today. Out of the Western Canada Concept arose another party, The Reform Party, that did address many of the concerns of Western Canada and had some effective representation in Ottawa. As has always been the case in Canadian politics, without Central Canada support, any political party is going to be nothing more than a yappy little ankle-biter and an annoyance in the political machinery of Ottawa at best.

The Reform Party was Our Best Chance
