Hi Tim,

Everything you have stated is so true. I have had a sideline job since graduating from University in the 1990's, back then it was called moonlighting, and my side job was delivering pizza, it was a purely cash job back then.

Why have I had a more or less permanent side job, because I have been laid off more times that should be possible 30 years in the workforce. I have mostly worked in the smaller and medium sized business. I have had 4 employers go out of business on me in this time and 2 went through sale/mergers where I was not kept on. I have also voluntarily left 4 additional jobs, jobs that I took out of desperation from the aforementioned downsizing's that were terrible places to work. My first downsizing happened a mere 4 months after I graduated from University.

The side Jobs have been a lifesaver at times because when a company goes broke on your you don't get your last paycheck. The side jobs have also paid for a couple of trips to Europe.

I'm still trying to find traction in the Digital Sideline for the past few years but slowly thing are happening.
